“We gotta document it, “says no one but Matt to Jenna in Thirteen Going on Thirty. The usual school pictures, more times than not, turns into the pic like Jenna’s with an off-guard snap of hair frizzled, mouth open mid-sentence, and eyebrows upturned in confusion. We say, as did Jenna, “Matt, please, no more pictures.” To determine what side our students stand on, Matt or Jenna, we got your stories in sharing the funniest, most regretful, and/or most memorable Picture Day moments.
Emma Ryan writes…
“When I was a kid, I always wanted to be like my older sisters. I watched the shows they watched and ate the foods they ate. So, when picture day rolled around, obviously, I wanted to have my picture taken too. Being two, I wasn’t in school, so I didn’t have a picture day. But, apparently, I was so persistent that I HAD to take a picture for picture day that my parents took me to Lifetouch to have it done. To this day, I think it s by far the best “school” picture I have had taken.”
Kameryn Limle writes…
“My junior year, I wore braids for picture day. I don’t know why I thought it would look good, but it made me look immature instead (in my opinion). Picture day is not the day to cosplay the Wendy’s logo. Maybe pigtail braids suit you, but not me.”
Even our own teachers had moments in which they had a mishap or would like to erase entirely.
Mr. Nash (admin) shares…
“I was a chunky kid and had blond hair, and I just got the popular bowl cut with highlights and was wearing a new purple silk button-up shirt for picture day. This was about 7th grade, circa 1994. At the time, that was trendy, but my parents should have prevented me from attempting.” (Wouldn’t we love to see this pic, Mr. Nash?)
Mrs. Core-Stine shares…
“In 6th grade I opted for dramatic backlighting in my school picture. Not a great pic. It highlighted every stray hair. Plus, I had just gotten braces and didn’t want to smile properly. My mom was so angry, I told the photographer I wanted the backlighting. She probably still has a copy of the picture, and if she agrees to dig it out – I might burn it.” (We want to see it before there is a burning, Mrs. Core-Stine)
Mrs. Champ shares…
“They say middle school is the official “ugly duckling phase”…& honestly, they aren’t wrong. Your body is confused, your emotions are unpredictable, & your sense of style? Well, let’s just say questionable choices were made…but it’s also hilarious when you look back.”
Yes, readers. We were even provided some photos to share. Can you guess the faculty?
We all have THAT pic, we love or hate. But, we must take what we learn and grow, which is said best by Jenna, “I know I made a lot of mistakes, but I don’t regret any of them. Because if I hadn’t have made them, I wouldn’t have learned how to make things right” (Thirteen Going on Thirty).
