“Somewhere inside of all of us is the power to change the world.” – Roald Dahl
Voting is an important opportunity for the people to exercise their freedom and over the past few days, the people have spoken! Students were asked who they would choose for president and vice president among the staff at Walton-Verona High School. Lily Vandiver and Alihan Ceylan felt as though Mr. Pollock should be the elected head of the United States of America. Lily brought up Mr. Pollock’s well-known qualities: “He is a very smart, hardworking, and responsible guy. Look at him!” Alihan also spoke highly of our librarian: “When he has a feat that he has to accomplish, he’s going to do anything he can to get it done.” Demi Lavon argued, “I would say Mr. Borkowski because he is very passionate about how he feels.” The above candidates are honorable choices in regards to Mr. Pollock’s drive to better his environment and Mr. Borkowski’s devotion for his students, but other worthy candidates are favored for the job.
“I would probably pick Mr. Coleman as president and Mrs. Blancher for vice president,” resolved Ben Walton as he pondered Mr. Coleman’s leadership. Charlotte March thought about the characteristics of leadership also, but wished for Mrs. Mayer to be president for her excellent relationships with both students and staff. In the position of vice president, Charlotte chose Mr. Pollock. In the chase to hear the voices of the WVHS Bearcats, Russel Burdette responded, explaining his choice of Ms. Shearer as president because of how well she connects with students and Mrs. Mayer because of her effort evident in various successful school events.
After additional discussions with voters, the race came down to Mr. Pollock and Mrs. Mayer. Every candidate mentioned by students was praised for their overflowing kindness and encouragement in not just academics, but in the goals students set for themselves. The positive descriptions of the choice president and vice president indicated the exceptional influence found at WVHS which all Bearcats can take time to reflect on and be grateful for, but in the end there can only be one winner…
The person standing in as second in command, known to many as the Keeper of Knowledge, is Mr. Pollock! He would surely get the job done. As the position of vice president is filled, the Commander-in-Chief will be President Mayer! Her dedication to nurturing an enjoyable educational experience made her the favored candidate in regards to presiding over the United States of America. Thank you to the voters for their thoughts and valued opinions.
