According to American Red Cross, every 2 seconds, someone in the US needs blood or platelets. Giving blood is a life-saving task that can be used for people in accidents, surgeries, or who have diseases. Not only does blood benefit the person requiring blood, but giving blood allows the donor to participate in an act of selflessness, increasing the generosity of the community.
Our own Addie Dixon and Bella O-Brien have organized a blood drive at Walton-Verona (sponsored by Hoxworth Blood Center) for students above the age of 16 and meeting the eligibility requirements. On Friday, April 4th, students can go to the vehicles outside to donate blood. Students can sign up online or see Bella.
Donating blood is a rewarding task which saves lives and is honored with a free 40 oz tumbler. Thanks, Bella and Addie, for your hard work!
