This week, students and teachers alike celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week to honor educators who inspire, guide, and shape today’s future students. From early mornings to late nights grading papers, teachers create lesson plans and shape lives every day. Paw Press asked students to share a few words about their favorite teacher, and the responses were inspiring.
Starting off with a bang, Freshman Henry Hinks shows his appreciation toward Ms. Blancher for her ability to make math easy to understand (a difficult task to accomplish). Math is such an important part of life, and for a teacher to be able to guide a student toward success is impressive.
Moreover, Freshman Eli Born shares his opinions on his favorite teacher: “My favorite teacher is Ms. Fisk because she’s nice and always ready to help.” Thank you, Ms. Fisk, for being a comfort to students and always available for each and every student you teach and impact. Gracias, Ms. Fisk!
Many students showed their appreciation toward Ms. Ponzer. Kaylee Murray and Kylie Herbst both appreciate her go-with-the-flow personality and her ability to make students feel seen. Ms. Ponzer is so appreciated at our school, and we are so glad to have her at Walton-Verona.
Students also showed their appreciation toward a new teacher: Mrs. Hummel. Emma Campbell appreciates how nice she is, while Brina Thornton appreciates her kind personality and comfortable environment in class. Mrs. Hummel has always been easy to approach, and many students remember her kind smiles throughout the halls.
On a lighthearted note, Abby Hamilton talks about all the great things Mr. Miller has done for our school: “The teacher I appreciate the most is Mr. Miller because he is inspiring to everyone and constantly smiling.” Mr. Miller doesn’t just teach Health, but important life lessons.
Senior Kourtlynn Blackburn expressed her admiration for our new business teacher, Ms. Roberts, favorably. Kourtlynn expresses her immense joy for the entrepreneurship classroom: “I love Ms. Roberts. She always finds a way to make fun lessons for us to do. Simultaneously, she acknowledges the stress of our senior years and knows when we need breaks. Nevertheless, she always manages to teach us something, even in the silliest of activities.” Even in her first year, Ms. Roberts has shown a promising career here at WVHS.
As a personal insight, my teacher appreciation goes out to The Mrs. Sampson. A quote from my senior letter, “You were hilarious, kind, real, and so refreshingly human that I couldn’t help but feel instantly at ease.” is an accurate representation of Mrs. Sampson as a whole. Thank you for EVERYTHING you do, Mrs. Sampson!
From great personalities to easy lesson plans, it is evident that Walton-Verona teachers have a special place in our hearts. As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, make sure you thank your teachers for everything they do.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
