The countdown begins! One of the most anticipated events of the season is held Tuesday, May 20th. The senior vs. faculty basketball game brings excitement for the school while students predict who will win, and the predictions were pretty split up. This year’s senior class isn’t just here to get diplomas, but bring serious skills to the court. Seniors are counting on their youth, stamina, and team unity to carry them to victory. Plus, with the entire student body behind them in the bleachers, they’ll have no shortage of energy.
But the teachers are not going down without a fight. Mr. Borkowski, leading the teachers to victory every year, feels confident that the teachers will, once again, take the trophy. Confidence is through the roof, and the predictions prove it. Paw Press asked around, and teachers took the lead for whom Walton-Verona thought would win the game. Votes were pretty close, but teachers gathered more votes with 13 votes while students had 10.
Not only does WVHS have to look forward to the intense game, but there will be half-time games to entertain the crowd and give the players a much-needed break. Chariot racing features a rolling cart and pool noodles where students need to chariot their partner to the finish line. The other half-time game is fast feet. You sit on a chair and must gather as much newspaper as you can with your feet, hence the name fast feet.
Win or lose, the game will be full of laughter and intense game-play. As always, it’s less about the scoreboard and more about school spirit and seeing teachers and seniors on the same court. Mark your calendars and wear your school colors!
