Parents, Guardians, and Students of Walton-Verona High School,
As we reach the end of summer and start to prepare for the return of school, please review the important information below about the 2025-2026 school year and our Back to School Bash Event.
School Start and Release Time Update:
Walton-Verona High School will start at 7:40am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Walton-Verona High School utilizes a Late Start Wednesday schedule so teachers can meet in professional meetings. As a result, WVHS starts at 8:10am on Wednesdays. WVHS dismisses every day at 2:30pm. Students who use bus transportation can continue to do so on Wednesdays at the regularly scheduled time.
Dress Code Update:
There have been updates to the dress code for high school students. The current student dress code is available on page 30 of the Student Handbook, available online. Please review the dress code and keep these requirements in mind when doing back-to-school shopping.
Cell Phone Policy:
The WVHS SBDM Council has approved a cell phone policy for high school students. Please review the policy and speak to your student(s) about the importance of adhering to the regulations.
Back to School Bash (Schedule Pickup Event): Monday, August 18th, from 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Parents, guardians and students should come to the high school to pick up class schedules and Chromebooks, tour the building, and meet their teachers!
- School/Course Fees: We are excited to announce that many of the required school/course fees have been removed for the 25-26 school year. The course fees that remain are associated with Art, Chorus or Band classes. Course fees will be posted to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal on Monday, August 18th. School fees must be paid using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal prior to the start of the school year. Parents who need help accessing the online system should contact [email protected] and provide the guardian’s name, the student’s name and a phone number. Families who need financial assistance paying course fees should meet with Mrs. Swanson in the high school office at the Schedule Pickup Event.
- Schedule Pickup – Student will be able to pick up their class schedule. Students will have a chance to review their class schedule and meet with a counselor about any potential necessary changes or complete a schedule change request form. We do build student schedules based up the courses the student requested in the scheduling process last spring.
- Chromebooks: To receive your Chromebook, we must have a signed EZ sheet on file each year – this serves as the Student Technology Agreement. Parents who attend the Schedule Pickup Event with their student(s) may sign the form at the event. Students without a parent in attendance may also print the EZ sheet beforehand and bring the signed copy with them. If a parent cannot attend or the paperwork is not signed, students in attendance may still receive their class schedules and meet their teachers. Any student who does not attend the Schedule Pickup Event will receive their Chromebook on the first day of school in their Focus period, if they have a signed EZ Sheet.
- School Food Service: Representatives from the Food Services team will be available in the High School Commons to assist families with the online programs available to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch application using MySchoolApps or MySchoolBucks (to deposit funds in the student’s lunch account).
First Day Attendance
All students are required to report to Walton-Verona High School on Thursday, August 21st, for the first day of school at 7:40am. After the first day of school, any student with a dual credit class or an off-campus class must report to WVHS in time for their first scheduled on-campus class. For students with dual credit classes, off-campus classes or work experience, they will be able to leave campus at the conclusion of their WVHS scheduled classes if they are meeting all academic expectations and passing their classes.
WVHS students attending the Boone County Technical Center start school on August 14. Review the appropriate letter for more information.
- AM students (juniors and senior nursing students): Back to School Letter
- PM students (seniors): Back to School Letter
WVHS Seniors attending Ignite start school on August 14. Review the Ignite Back to School Letter for more information.
Parking Passes.
All students driving to campus must park in the large parking lot located behind the high school wing and must obtain and display a parking pass for the current school year. Students in need of a parking pass should complete the online application using the link in their Walton-Verona Clever account. The cost of a parking pass is $10 and must be paid in either the parent or student Infinite Campus portal under the “optional fee” section of the fee menu.
Communications
Walton-Verona High School will communicate with students using email and TalkingPoints. At the Back to School Bash schedule Pickup Event, you will receive a Census Verification sheet that lists the current phone numbers and email addresses we have on file in Infinite Campus. Please double-check your cellphone number and email address to ensure you are receiving our important communications we are sending out.
Supply List
Students will receive a list of specific class supplies from their teachers the first few days of school. With the every student having a different schedule in high school, providing a supply list before students have their class schedule is not practical. Most teachers ask students to come to class with paper, pencils, pens, notebook, and a folder.
We hope to see everyone for the Back to School Schedule Pickup Event on Monday, August 18 from 12:00 noon – 6:00pm in the Walton-Verona High School Commons. Parking is available in the front or the back of the school.
