Andrew Manning is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist with a PSAT score of 1460! After learning about the program in 2024, he began studying and working hard to achieve his goal. Now, he’s seeing the benefits, with a possible prize of $2500, tuition coverage, and many competitive scholarship opportunities. Our principal had this to say during a school-wide announcement:
“I want to take a moment to recognize one of our own, Andrew Mann, for an incredible achievement. Andrew has been named a National Merit Semifinalist, placing him among the top students in the entire nation based on his outstanding academic performance and PSAT results.
To give some context on how big this is:
- Over 1.3 million juniors from around 20,000 high schools enter the National Merit Scholarship competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT.
- Of those, only about 16,000 students are selected as Semifinalists nationwide. That means Semifinalists represent less than 1% of the nation’s high school seniors.
Andrew’s selection reflects hard work, dedication, resilience, and academic excellence. We are proud of the way he represents Walton-Verona High School.
Please join me in congratulating Andrew on this outstanding accomplishment. Let’s continue to support and celebrate each other as we strive for excellence.”
