Senior Beta is a nationally recognized educational organization built on the foundation of serving others and developing leadership. It has been a part of our Walton-Verona High School for decades (well beyond my time here at WVHS). Members serve our local, regional, and global community through volunteering their personal time in a plethora of ways. Some of the most rewarding, for myself as the advisor, have included making meals for a woman’s shelter, serving food at soup kitchens, creating and organizing boxes for Operation Christmas Child, organizing items for Hope Missions and Master Provisions, and gardening for our very own Wake Up Walton. To see the students come together as a community and serve those in need outside the classroom walls enlightens me and reinforces my own motto in life – “A life serving others is the only life worth living” (Anonymous).
Our members, officers, and I welcome those who wish to assist in serving as well (even those who may not be a member). You can do this in November by assisting in Operation Christmas Child. All you need to do to get involved is fill a box and drop it off to Mrs. Sampson in room 310 between November 13-21st. See the guidelines at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/pack-a-shoe-box/.
