Everyone deserves a moment, a spotlight per se, of those extraordinary comments others say about him/her for the great work and impact left on the lives of others. The Paw Press would like to shine a light on people who have been nominated by our own student body for continuing the tradition of excellence we uphold at WVHS.
September Spotlights include:
- Mr. Pollock who “sees the potential in students and always very kind… I felt seen and appreciated in his class when I had him freshman year. Now I’m a senior in high school, and he has by far been the teacher that I could go to” (student 1); “a teacher that cares for all of his students and is someone that truly wants to help everyone succeed” (student 2).
- Ms. Ponzer who “has been such a help!! Even though it’s only been 2 full weeks, she has helped so much with our math!!”
- Ms. Blancher who “is an exceptional math teacher. Not only does she know how to interact/connect with her students, but she’s really clear with her teaching and instructions. Ms. Blancher is also really funny!” (student 1); “She has been very helpful throughout my high school math journey! She is very sarcastic and is very easy to talk to. I don’t think I could ever ask for a better teacher” (student 2); “She is an exceptional math teacher. Not only does she know how to interact/connect with her students, but she’s really clear with her teaching and instructions. Ms. Blancher is also really funny!” (student 3).
- Mr. Miller who “is one of the kindest most loving teachers who never fails to put a smile on a teacher’s face while always having a interactive class period.”
- Ms. Shearer who “always does great assignments that are fun and interactive and easy and if you need help she helps right away and always very nice” (student 1); “she has taught me a lot, and she can help you with not just her class work but also my science work, and if you don’t understand something she will break it down for you. Also, she is very kind and sweet towards her students, makes it a safe place in her classroom, with posters and lights which add a great touch, she can be very funny not just sometimes but all the time” (student 2).
- Mrs. Roberts who “is very nice and understanding. She makes sure that everyone understands what she is teaching, and she is very funny.”
- Mrs. Walters is “kind to all her students and a great teacher!”
- Ms. Whelan is “deserving of this nomination because she is a really good teacher who helps students who are struggling with school work even if they are not in one of her classes. Not only does she help us with school, but she is also willing to listen to someone if they need to talk. Even though this is her first year teaching at WVHS, she is doing amazing!
