High School Drama: the opportunity for students to explore their artistic talents and build confidence by performing on stage. Some students, however, stayed throughout their whole high school journey. Ranging from director to actors, seniors Annie Kunkel, Olivia Hedges, Emma Wolfe, and Jude Stapperfenne look back to their first roles freshman year. Olivia, who has been an actor since freshman year, reflects on her theater journey: “Freshman year, I acted in the one acts and musical. I’ve been acting for 9 years now, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Performing has given me a creative outlet to express myself. Overall, I have grown so much as a performer over the past 4 years!” Drama class has provided many students with a safe space to be themselves and even act as a dead guy on the floor. Jude, the dead guy on the floor, has loved playing his part with passion since 10th grade. He has been crew since 9th, but when the opportunity arose for him to dramatically fall on the floor, he obviously took it.
Annie, on the other hand, has always been backstage until this year. Although nervous at first, Annie became director of Unintended Video and exceeded expectations! She loved the opportunity to branch out and was a great director to stars Olivia and Emma. Emma has been performing since she was young, too. Her precise acting sends chills down our spines and is a great star of Drama!
