Round 3 of Inktober has been completed and the notorious Bob has finally made a story…
Blunder
I scan the room, praying for a way to get out. It’s so unfair that I’m trapped in here. All I did was steal a few Teslas. The cold cement bricks seem to taunt me, refusing to budge against my pushes. Not a single crack or break; I guess that’s the kind of building you can get if you’re a billionaire. Soaking in the few hours where the sun gleams through my miniature, barred window, I spot Elon Musk robotically moving towards a Cybertruck and opening the door. There he was, chess grand master Magnus Carlsen. Musk had challenged him to a chess duel over the phone days earlier; I couldn’t tell who he was talking to at the time, but I knew he was very, very confident in himself. But for him to beat Carlsen, he would have to actually be AI.
They walked into Musk’s courtyard, lined with lavish, tall green trees and a shiny marble fountain. Though they left my view, the wind blew their voices through the cold metal bars in the slot of the wall. Reaching on the tips of my toes, my ear pressed against the window, I heard Musk excitedly ushering Carlsen over to his chess board, no doubt adorned to the heavens. As chess pieces lightly clacked, I heard some frustrated sighs. Musk, overconfident in his abilities, had challenged THE best chess player, without ever having played chess before. Only seconds later, a thundering crash bellowed through the fancy courtyard, as the pieces clattered on the marble floor.
“Checkmate,” Carlsen confidently stated, the only word he had spoken all game.
“No, n-no, this can’t be happening!” Musk cried out in a panic. “I can’t blunder in chess, I’ll-”
CABLAM!
Dust filled the air as my cement cage disintegrated. I’m free! I ran outside, through the wreckage in the courtyard and sprinted straight for the ultimate steal: Musk’s Cybertruck. The guards, too busy mourning Musk’s remains, didn’t see me walk by. For the first time in a while I smiled, as I sped away from his mansions in MY new Cybertruck.
