Students at WV INT have been fortunate this year to welcome several different organizations and athletes to the intermediate school for our monthly Bearcat Breakout Days. These events are designed to expose students to the many opportunities they will encounter as they continue their educational journey in Walton.
In September, athletes from the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, football team, and girls’ volleyball team joined us to lead school-wide activities centered around their sports. In October, our high school cross country team hosted the Bearcat Trail, an event that took place across campus and focused on teamwork and collaboration. November featured visits from the varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, as well as the cheerleaders, who demonstrated their skills and guided students through hands-on activities.
Although December activities were canceled due to weather, students later enjoyed a special performance from our high school choir students. January’s breakout focused on art, with several high school students helping lead students through a variety of creative art stations. It was a day filled with imagination, creativity, and fun.
While February and March did not include participation from high school students, April’s breakout highlighted baseball and softball. These athletes played games with students and taught them skills related to their sports.
The high school students who participated throughout the year have been an incredible source of inspiration and encouragement for our fourth- and fifth-grade students, motivating them to strive to meet their full potential. See Spring Highlights below.
