The WVHS Y-Club, led by Mrs. Mayer, traveled this past Sunday to the 2026 Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) hosted by the Kentucky YMCA. KUNA brings together high school students from across the Bluegrass to represent countries, debate global issues, and model the work of the United Nations. Representing Ethiopia, Aubrey Moses, Jackson Morwessel, Evan Ryan, and Ross Storer worked diligently to draft and present a resolution focused on humanitarian aid and food assistance for the Aromia region. After thoughtful debate and strong speeches, the resolution was officially endorsed and passed by Secretary General Noah McMahan. The delegation proudly earned several honors, including Premier Delegation, Resolution for Sustainability, Outstanding Country Sign, passage in Voting Committee, and endorsement by the Secretary General. WVHS also showcased Ethiopian culture on the international stage with a traditional dance performance celebrating the nation’s heritage. A special thank you to our club’s seniors: Addie Dixon, Aubrey Moses, Emma Dizdarevic , Gracie Dames, Jackson Morwessel, Cadence Hall and our chapter President, Tristan Clifton— for setting the standard of excellence within our delegation. Your leadership, dedication, and example have left a lasting impact on our club and paved the way for future students to continue growing and succeeding.
I, Bryce Sullivan, was honored to receive the Outstanding Ambassador award at this year’s assembly. This recognition is given to ambassadors who demonstrate leadership, active participation in debate, and a strong commitment to representing their country well. I am incredibly thankful to Mrs. Mayer for nominating me for this award and for her constant support throughout the process, and I would also like to thank our entire delegation for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork for none of these accomplishments would have been possible without each and every member contributing their time and effort.
Y-Club is more than just an extracurricular activity; it is a place where students grow in knowledge, build leadership skills, form lasting friendships, and learn how to use their voices to make a difference. If you are looking for a way to get involved, step outside your comfort zone, and be part of something bigger than yourself, Y-Club is the place for you. We would love to see even more students join us next year and experience everything the Y has to offer.
