Frankfort Field Trip:
On February 10th, I traveled to Frankfort to talk about Career and Technical Education (CTE) with our Legislators. I was a representative of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), along with Gracie Dames; Madelyn Ryan and Landon Kinman were representatives for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and Russel Burdette was the representative for Future Farmers of America (FFA). We were also accompanied by Mrs. Smithers (FCS and FCCLA) and Mrs. Gayheart (FBLA).
While we were in Frankfort, we met with Senator Steve Rawlings, Representative Steven Doan, and Representative Mark Hart. It was a privilege to talk to them about the CTE classes. We were able to prove how they get us involved in our communities, future careers, and politics. It was a blessing to have the opportunity to show the benefits of CTE classes and school organizations.
I spoke with Senator Rawlings and Representative Doan about FCCLA and my project. Russel Burdette was able to speak with Representative Hart about agriculture and the future of FFA programs in Kentucky. Madelyn Ryan and Gracie Dames also had the opportunity to converse with Representative Hart about the National Guard and their gratitude for that opportunity in our state. Learning how our state government functions was an enlightening experience, as was showing our government how our high schools work. This was such a cool opportunity!
