Walton-Verona High School hosts a wide variety of interests for students to explore, including the arts! Mrs. Horn has worked diligently to guide students toward their best potential. On the path to artistic discovery, a few of her students showcased their talents at the National Art Education Association Conference in Louisville, KY. She gushed with pride for the Bearcat artists: “I was proud to feature some of our talented WVHS student work at the conference. In the state art display, Savannah Thornberry, DeAndre Salgado, and Madeline Irvin had their artworks on display-their work had all placed in the KyAEA Conference Art Exhibit this past November.”
WVHS pieces continued their debut according to Mrs. Horn: “Also, KyAEA (the Kentucky Art Education Association) hosted the Spirit of Kentucky Exhibition, a collection of about 30 barrel heads that were painted by students in all regions of the commonwealth. Our own Sophie Carty had her barrel head design selected, and she painted a majestic horse in front of a proud blue and white Kentucky banner that was not only included in the display, but selected as one of the two barrel heads displayed at the KyAEA table in the heart of the action.” She finished by complimenting her students saying, “Sophie and her team of Liz Olano and Brooke Brown worked for more than a couple months on perfecting this barrel head painting and their effort was worth it.”
